Two Sales Close at 220 Central Park South, Totaling $62 Million - Barron's

Two apartments sold earlier this month for more than $62 million at the Robert A.M. Stern Architects-designed 220 Central Park South in Manhattan, according to property records.

Vornado Realty Trust, the building’s developer, sold a 48th-floor condominium in the main tower to Noble Birch (US) Inc. for just over $59 million, according to records made public Monday. The sale closed on Dec. 13, but it was initiated in March 2015. Mansion Global was unable to locate a contact number for Noble Birch.

The five-bedroom home was originally priced at $64 million, according to a 2016 offering plan published from Vornado.

Noble Birch, a New York City-based company, also purchased an additional unit on the 20th floor, property records show. Also in the main tower, it sold for $3.8 million, and closed on Dec. 13. Mansion Global could not

Deborah Kern of Corcoran is leading sales at the building, located on Manhattan’s so-called Billionaires’ Row. Attorney Scott Segal represented New York-based Noble Birch (US) Inc., records show. Ms. Kern declined to comment on the sales. Mr. Segal did not immediately respond to a request for comment. 

220 Central Park South, which includes the 79-story main tower and the adjacent 18-story Villa, has had several other notable sales this year.

In November, two deals were recorded for more than $40 million, Mansion Global reported: A five-bedroom apartment on the 46th floor of the main building was sold for $59.6 million, and a two-story unit in the Villa that closed for $46.5 million.

At the beginning of 2019, hedge fund manager Kenneth C. Griffin purchased a penthouse in the main tower for $238 million, setting the record for the most expensive residence sold in the U.S.

The Real Deal first reported the sale of the latest two units on Tuesday.
