A Dallas residential sales company has pared back its staff but plans to continue operations as a low-cost provider.
Home sales firm Door kicked off its business in 2016, offering flat-fee brokerage services for North Texas home sellers.
The company is one of several real estate sales service providers offering an alternative to traditional home marketing models.
Door had planned to spread its operations around the country but has pulled back and recently cut several dozen employees.
CEO Alex Doubet said Door plans to continuing growing in the local market.
“From D-FW’s perspective, there shouldn’t be a noticeable change,” Doubet said in an email. “Yes, we did lay off people a few weeks ago — all of whom were great people — but the layoffs were centered around those who were focused on national expansion and came about after an expected funding round fell through.
“We are still in Texas, and in fact are enjoying one of our best Januarys ever, but we are focused on Texas for the foreseeable future, rather than national expansion as we had been,” he said. “You’ll still see our yard signs around D-FW.”
The D-FW area is one of the country’s most competitive real estate markets, and it has seen a sharp increase in the number of home sales firms in the last few years.
In 2019, North Texas real estate agents sold more than 108,000 single-family homes – a new record for the area.
