Microsoft Corporation to build a development centre in Kenya - Ecofin Agency: Economic information from Africa

(Ecofin Agency) - Microsoft Corporation announced the construction of a tech development centre in Kenya. The project was presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta during an audience granted on May 13, 2019, to Microsoft’s representatives led by Phil Spencer, Microsoft’s executive vice-president in charge of the gaming department.

The tech development centre will serve the East African region.

According to Microsoft, it will be a leading engineering force training world-class talents able to create innovative solutions with global impact.

Microsoft also plans to create such centre in Nigeria for the West African region.

For Phil Spencer, “the African Development Centres will contribute to Microsoft’s interests across global businesses such as Office, Azure and Windows among others.”

The development centre in Kenya will be Microsoft’s seventh in the world. For president Uhuru Kenyatta, the centre is welcome in Kenya. “You can count on my 100 per cent support. I want this to be a transparent partnership that benefits Microsoft and Kenyans greatly. We want you to make Kenya your African home,” he said.
