Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has introduced the latest incarnation of its popular line of Surface Pro laptops, and business users on the hunt for a new computer may like what they see. The Surface Pro has surpassed Apple’s MacBook with at least one key feature.
CNBC has the scoop on Surface Pro’s newfound edge.
Microsoft launched a new model of its Surface Pro laptop on Tuesday and it now has an edge over Apple’s MacBook products, particularly for business users.
The new version of the Surface Pro now has built-in LTE connectivity, which means users can stay connected wherever there’s a cellular signal, the same sort used by your smartphone. Previously, Microsoft only sold Wi-Fi models of the Surface Pro. Apple’s MacBooks don’t support LTE connections at all, though its iPads are available with that option.
For business users that are always on the go, additional confidence in connectivity is a huge selling point. The Verge has offered up a review of the new models and came away impressed with its all-day battery life, but the outlet also pinged the new Surface Pro’s for having processors that are somewhat outdated in relation to newer PCs.
The new model, starting at a price point of $1,149, is available for order now with a ship date of no later than May 1.
Microsoft Corporation shares were trading at $93.93 per share on Tuesday morning, up $0.29 (+0.31%). Year-to-date, MSFT has gained 10.32%, versus a 1.96% rise in the benchmark S&P 500 index during the same period.
MSFT currently has a StockNews.com POWR Rating of A (Strong Buy), and is ranked #1 of 65 stocks in the Software – Application category.
